At PDE, you won't be stuck on one project for years. You won't be isolated in a single domain. And you won't be waiting for someone to tell you what to do.
Last year alone, our team worked on medical diagnostic equipment, industrial automation systems, consumer IoT devices, and defense electronics. Next year will be different again.
This variety isn't chaos—it's intentional. We've structured our practice to give engineers exposure to multiple industries, technologies, and challenges. If you're curious and want to keep learning, this is the place.
Electronics engineers participate in mechanical design reviews. Firmware developers understand hardware constraints. Everyone gains perspective beyond their specialty.
This isn't just nice to have—it's how we catch problems early, design systems that actually work together, and build engineers who see the whole picture.
When we say ownership, we mean it. Engineers here make real decisions about their work. You'll propose solutions, not just implement specs. You'll talk directly with clients, not through layers of management. You'll own outcomes, not just tasks.
Our average tenure is 8.8 years. In an industry where two years is considered a long time, that number says something. Here's what our team tells us keeps them here:
Medical devices. Industrial controls. Consumer products. Entertainment technology. When you're solving different problems every few months, work stays engaging.
You'll have the freedom to approach problems your way, with experienced colleagues available when you want input. We trust engineers to do their jobs—and we're there when you need support.
37 years in business. Two successful management buyouts. When the company is stable, you can take technical risks, try new approaches, and propose unconventional solutions without worrying about job security.
Core leadership averages 28.6 years with PDE. When you work alongside people with decades of experience shipping real products, you learn things that aren't in textbooks.
The products we design end up in dental offices, on stages, in factories, in homes. You can point to something in the world and say "I built that."
We're based in Burnaby, BC with a modern facility that includes a full engineering lab. Our hybrid model balances collaborative in-office time with flexibility for focused work—the specific mix depends on your role and current projects.
Project Management: JIRA for task tracking, Confluence for documentation
Development: Modern IDEs for every platform we support
Design: Altium, OrCAD, SolidWorks—industry-standard tools, properly licensed
Lab Equipment: RF isolation chamber, temperature chamber, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, 3D printers—the equipment you need to do the job right
19 engineers across electronics, mechanical, firmware, software, and compliance. Small enough that everyone knows everyone. Large enough that you're not doing everything yourself.
Most roles involve direct collaboration with client teams. You'll use their tools, participate in their meetings, become a working member of their engineering organization. If you prefer working behind a wall of project managers, this probably isn't the right fit. If you want to understand the real problems you're solving, you'll thrive here.
At PDE, growth happens through work. You'll gain exposure to new technologies, standards, and approaches on nearly every project. The RF challenges this month won't be the same as next month's firmware optimization problem.
With senior engineers who've been here for decades, you'll learn from people who've shipped thousands of products. Not abstract theory—practical knowledge from real experience.
Most engineers eventually develop client-facing responsibilities. You'll learn to translate technical concepts for different audiences, run effective meetings, and represent the company in technical discussions.
As a TI Elite Design House, Arrow ACES partner, and AMD Partner Network member, we have access to training, resources, and technical support that individual engineers rarely get.
Note: For the full story behind our values, see the About page. Here's how they show up day-to-day:
Integrity means you can push back on unrealistic schedules without fear. It means telling clients the truth even when it's uncomfortable.
Collaboration means your ideas matter regardless of tenure or title. It means asking for help is strength, not weakness.
Ownership means when something goes wrong, we focus on fixing it—not assigning blame. It means you're trusted to make decisions.
Agility means when requirements change (and they will), we adapt without drama.
Innovation means trying new approaches is encouraged, not just tolerated.
"What surprised me was the variety. In my first year, I touched medical devices, industrial equipment, and consumer products. Every project is different."
"I came from a company where every decision went through three layers of approval. Here, if I think something's the right approach, I can just do it—and people trust my judgment."
"Working with engineers who've been doing this for 20+ years is invaluable. The things they catch in design reviews, the shortcuts they know from experience—you can't learn that any other way."
"37 years in business means I don't worry about layoffs or the company disappearing. I can focus on the work."
We're always interested in connecting with exceptional engineers. If you think you'd be a great fit for PDE, tell us about yourself—what you've worked on, what interests you, and why PDE caught your attention.
A real engineer reads your resume. No automated keyword screening.
A call to learn about your background and answer your questions about PDE. Usually 30 minutes.
Deeper conversation with team members in your domain. We're interested in how you think, not gotcha questions.
Visit our office, meet potential colleagues, see the lab. Get a real sense of what working here is like.
If we're a mutual fit, we move quickly. Most candidates complete the process within 2-3 weeks.
We're looking for engineers who want interesting problems, real ownership, and colleagues they can learn from.
